A memorial meeting, prayer, and Iftar Mahfil were held at Bhalokutia Bazar in Ghior Upazila, Manikganj, on the occasion of the 14th death anniversary of the late BNP Secretary General, Ekushey Padak-winning language movement veteran, and Bir Muktijoddha Khandaker Delwar Hossain. The event was organized by Baliyakhora Union BNP and its affiliated organizations, with the participation of party leaders, activists, and people from various professions.
The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. Khandaker Akbar Hossain (Babul), the eldest son of the late BNP Secretary General and former Vice President of Manikganj District BNP. In his speech, he said, “My father dedicated his life to the country and its people. He was an ideal leader of BNP who played a crucial role in the struggle for democracy, even during the party’s difficult times. The nation will always remember his contributions with respect. We must follow his ideals and work for the welfare of the country.”
Speakers at the event highlighted various aspects of Khandaker Delwar Hossain’s political life. They said that he devoted his life to fighting for democracy, justice, and the rights of ordinary people. During challenging times for BNP, he worked tirelessly to keep the party organized. Due to his uncompromising leadership and organizational skills, he was highly respected by BNP leaders and activists.
The speakers further stated that Khandaker Delwar Hossain was not just a politician but also a freedom fighter and a language movement veteran. His contribution to the country’s independence struggle was undeniable. As a Member of Parliament, he always prioritized the interests of the people. His ideals and leadership serve as an inspiration for the younger generation.

Biltu Khan, former Organizing Secretary of Ghior Upazila Jubo Dal; Rafiqul Islam Pintu, former Joint Convener of Ghior Upazila Jubo Dal; Tanvir Ahmed, Member Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Projonmo Dal 71; Md. Saddam Hossain, Senior Joint Convener of Muktijoddha Projonmo Dal, Manikganj District Branch; Shahidul Islam (Chandu), Joint Secretary of Ghior Upazila Jubo Dal; Al Mamun, Joint General Secretary of Manikganj District Chhatra Dal; and others.
The event was presided over by Md. Nurul Islam Master, President of Baliyakhora Union BNP, and conducted by Engineer H.M. Uzzal, Senior Joint Convener of Ghior Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal.
The program began with a special prayer seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Khandaker Delwar Hossain. During the prayer session, speakers said, “Today, we have gathered to honor a great person who dedicated his life to establishing the rights of the common people. We pray for his departed soul and hope that in the future, our leaders and activists will follow his ideals and work for the welfare of the nation.”
On behalf of the organizers, it was also stated, “Our late leader Khandaker Delwar Hossain was not just a leader of BNP; he was a leader of the people. We will walk the path he showed us and move forward by upholding his ideals.”
The event saw a remarkable presence of party leaders, activists, supporters, and local dignitaries. They all reminisced about Khandaker Delwar Hossain and prayed for the peace of his soul.
The organizers expressed hope that such events would inspire new generations of politicians and strengthen party unity.
